Clashes again at CU, 35 students including Pro-VC injured
A clash has again taken place between students and locals at Gate No. 2 of Chittagong University (CU). About 35 students including the university’s Pro-VC and proctor were injured in this. The clash took place on Sunday (August 31) at around 12 noon. At that time, Pro-VC Professor Dr. Kamal Uddin and Proctor Professor Dr. Tanvir Mohammad Haider Arif and administration officials reached there. In the meantime, clashes started in phases. About 35 students including the Pro-VC and proctor were injured in this. Many students were injured by the locals’ country-made weapons. However, no member of the law enforcement agency was seen at the scene. The students are bursting with anger. Earlier, this situation arose after a student of the university’s philosophy department was beaten up while entering the building at 11:15 pm on Saturday (August 30). The clash started at 12 pm on Saturday. About 70 students were injured in the clash. Later, the situation was brought under control with the presence of the army, but from 12 noon on Sunday, locals were seen patrolling with domestic weapons again. After receiving the news, students went to the spot in groups. This created a situation of conflict on the university campus. It is worth noting that at 11:15 pm, when a university student tried to enter her flat, the doorman of the house beat her up. Seeing the students near, the doorman fled. At that time, locals started throwing bricks and stones at the students. As a result, clashes started between the students and the locals. After this incident, the locals made announcements on the microphone of the mosque and attacked the students.
