Chuadanga court sentences one to life in rape case
A court has sentenced one to life imprisonment in the rape case of a schoolgirl in Chuadanga. He has also been fined Tk 50,000. Today, Sunday (September 21) afternoon, Judge Syed Habibul Islam of the Chuadanga Women and Child Abuse Prevention Tribunal announced the verdict in the presence of the accused. The convict is Khairul Islam (24), son of Sirajul Islam of Buzrukgargari Madrasapara in Chuadanga Municipality.
According to the case file, on the afternoon of September 7, 2024, a schoolgirl was returning home through the Chuadanga Government Women’s College intersection. At that time, Khairul, under the lure of marriage, picked up the schoolgirl of Buzrukgargari Madrasapara on an easy bike. Later, at around 1 am, he took her to a bamboo garden in Sumirdia of the municipality and raped her against her will. Later, while leaving, the convicted accused also threatened to kill her if she told anyone about the matter.
The day after the incident, the schoolgirl’s father filed a case with Chuadanga Sadar Police Station. As the charges against the accused in the case were proven beyond doubt, the learned judge ordered life imprisonment and a fine of Tk 50,000 against the accused.
