Chittagong Port’s capacity will increase several times by 2030: BIDA Chairman
The current government wants to complete the process of appointing foreign operators in the country’s major ports by December this year, said Chowdhury Ashiq Mahmud Bin Harun, Executive Chairman of the Investment Development Authority. He said this after inaugurating the agent desk at the Chittagong Port on Sunday (August 10) afternoon. The BIDA Chairman said that corruption and harassment will reduce once the ongoing reforms of the port are completed. At the time, he also said that the capacity of the Chittagong Port will increase several times by 2030. Container handling has increased by 30 percent after the Navy-run Drydock Limited took over the management of the port’s new mooring container terminal. In addition, the waiting time of ships has decreased by 13 hours.
