Chief Advisor to Malaysia, 5 agreements to be signed at Prime Minister’s invitation
Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus is going to Malaysia on a 3-day visit tomorrow, Monday (August 11) at the invitation of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. A meeting at the level of heads of government of the two countries will be held there on Tuesday. That morning, Dr. Muhammad Yunus and Anwar Ibrahim will hold a formal bilateral meeting in Putrajaya. Five MoUs are expected to be signed and three notes exchanged in various sectors including defense, energy and halal food during the bilateral visit. The meeting may discuss various issues such as resolving the complications of sending workers to Malaysia, defense, energy, trade and commerce, higher education, Rohingya crisis, agriculture, maritime economy and cooperation between the two countries in the international arena including ASEAN. It is worth noting that after the fall of the Awami League government on August 5, 2024, an interim government led by Dr. Yunus took power. Two months after taking office, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim visited Dhaka in October last year, the first visit by a foreign head of government during the interim government’s tenure.
