    Chief advisor thanked Donald Trump

    Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the chief advisor to the interim government, has thanked the new US President Donald Trump for standing by the Rohingya people who have fled violence in Bangladesh. The chief advisor’s press secretary, Shafiqul Alam, confirmed this information in a post on Facebook on Sunday.

    The post said that even though US aid has stopped, Professor Muhammad Yunus, the chief advisor to the interim government, thanked the US President for continuing to provide special assistance to the Rohingya who have taken refuge in Bangladesh.

    The post also said that US embassy officials met with High Representative Khalilul Rahman this afternoon and informed him of this exceptional measure.

    Earlier, the matter was also announced at a press conference at the press wing of the chief advisor. Deputy Press Secretary to the chief advisor, Apurba Jahangir, said that US assistance to the Rohingya will continue. The development agency USAID will continue to provide them with nutrition and resources.
