Chief advisor reveals the basis of the election.

The reform report will be the basis for the election after the charter of the new Bangladesh is prepared, said the chief advisor to the interim government, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus. He said this while handing over the four reform commissions to the chief advisor’s office in Tejgaon in the capital on Wednesday morning.

The chief advisor said, “The reports submitted by the four reform commissions are very important. What we want to form through this reform report, the purpose of which is – a charter of mass uprising will be prepared from it. Which will be the charter of the new Bangladesh. It will be prepared on the basis of consensus. Elections will be held, everything will be done; but the charter cannot be removed.”

Accepting the report of the reform commission, Dr. Muhammad Yunus said, “This is not just a formality, this is a historical moment. Many types of committees are formed, reports are published, formalities are completed; but today’s formalities are much higher than that. Today’s events will be part of history. Because these commissions were created from the flow of history.”

He said, ‘A ruined nation has suddenly woken up, raised its head high. History has been made from there, today’s program is an integral part of that history. This is not an isolated report. The reports that we have taken up today are definitely a big exercise for our country. No one will deny that.’

The chief advisor said, ‘This is a charter of the Bangladeshi, Bengali nation, a charter with which we will move forward. We will continue to implement it as soon as possible, as much as possible. The elections that will be held in the future will also be based on this charter. This should also be a government of consensus – the charter that we have held.’ Whatever happens, we should not let it go. Otherwise, how can the continuity of this dream be maintained! We want the continuity of that dream, we want its implementation.’

The commissions that submitted their reports today are Dr. Badiul Alam Majumdar-led Electoral Reforms Commission, Sarfaraz Hossain-led Police Administration Reforms Commission, TIB’s Dr. Anti-Corruption Commission headed by Iftekharuzzaman and Constitutional Reform Commission headed by Dr. Ali Riaz, a distinguished professor at Illinois State University.

Earlier, the interim government issued a notification on October 3 to form the commission.
