Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus has joined the main session of the 3-day international dialogue on the Rohingya that has begun in Cox’s Bazar. He will deliver the inaugural speech there. The 3-day conference began yesterday at the Bay Watch Hotel in Inani, Cox’s Bazar. Earlier, the Chief Advisor arrived at Cox’s Bazar Airport on a Bangladesh Biman flight at around 10 am on Monday (August 25). It is worth noting that the first session of the dialogue was held around 5 pm on Sunday. The first day’s activities included a special interactive session with Rohingya representatives. Discussions were held on ways to build trust for the safe and dignified repatriation of the Rohingya. The Rohingya representatives complained that they are being forced to live in refugee life day after day due to the silence of the international community. Local and foreign experts, diplomats, politicians, international organizations, academics and representatives of the Rohingya community participated in the conference. Representatives of the United Nations, various countries, development partners and high-ranking government policymakers are participating in the conference. Dr. Muhammad Yunus will join the main session as the chief guest. He will highlight Bangladesh’s position on resolving the Rohingya crisis and call for international cooperation. The dialogue with stakeholders has been organized by the Office of the High Representative for the Rohingya Issue and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The conference, which began on August 24, will continue until August 26. The chief advisor is scheduled to leave Cox’s Bazar after 1 pm today.
