Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus to go to New York

Professor Muhammad Yunus, the chief advisor to the interim government, is going to the United States to attend the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly. He will leave Dhaka for New York on Sunday (September 21) night. According to the itinerary, the chief advisor will arrive in New York on Monday (September 22) and address the General Assembly session on September 26. He is then scheduled to return to the country on October 2. Senior Assistant Press Secretary to the chief advisor, Faiz Ahmed, confirmed the matter.
The chief advisor will be accompanied by four political leaders – BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb-e-Amir Syed Abdullah Muhammad Taher, National Citizens Party (NCP) Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain and BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman’s Foreign Affairs Advisor Humayun Kabir.
Earlier, Foreign Affairs Adviser Md. Towhid Hossain told reporters that the chief advisor will present to world leaders the reforms undertaken in the country in the past one year and the commitment to establish a truly democratic state system through the upcoming national elections. He will also participate in a high-level meeting titled ‘High-level Conference on the Situation of Rohingya Muslims and Other Minorities in Myanmar’ chaired by the President of the United Nations General Assembly on September 30.
