    Chief Adviser pays respect to Jimmy Carter

    Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus paid respect to the Nobel laureate former President of the United States Jimmy Carter. On Tuesday, at 11:45 am today, he paid respect by placing flowers at the portrait of Jimmy Carter at the US Embassy in Baridhara of capital Dhaka. Later, he also wrote a message in the open condolence book there.

    At that moment, US Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Megan Boldin welcomed the Chief Adviser.

    Dr. Yunus recollected his friendship with Jimmy Carter and told Boldin that he had visited Jimmy Carter’s house in Georgia.

    The Chief Advisor said, ‘Jimmy Carter was a world champion of human rights, democracy and peace.’

    He also lauded the role of President Carter in building strong bilateral relations between Bangladesh and the United States.

    Dr. Yunus also recalled President Carter’s visit to Bangladesh in 1986 and deeply appreciated his influential work here through the Carter Center.

    By the way, former US President Jimmy Carter died last Sunday local time. He was 100 years old at the time of his death. Carter was the 39th President of the United States. Since February 2023, he had been in ‘hospice care’ at his home in Plains, Georgia. He had been staying there along with his wife Rosalynn Carter. Former US First Lady Rosalynn died on November 19, 2023.
