Islamic University (IU) branch vice-president Mamun-or-Rashid has been detained while taking an exam. Mamun is a master’s student of the 2022-23 academic year in the management department of the university. The incident took place on Monday afternoon.
Earlier, students protested in front of the department from 12:30 pm. At that time, general students raised slogans like ‘Abu Sayeed-Mugdhar blood, we will not let it go in vain’, ‘Abu Sayeed-Mugdhar, the war is not over’ etc.
It is learned that the re-examination exam of the management department started last Saturday. Mamun came to take the exam today, Monday. Later, at 12:30 pm, students started raising various slogans in front of the department. The teachers of the department also faced attacks from the students present. At 1:30 pm, the university’s assistant proctor, student advisor, teachers of the department and leaders and activists of the anti-discrimination student movement came and handed over Mamun to the police station.
Students said that this leader has exerted influence on the campus at various times and Mamun has directly opposed the student movement. Such a person will not be allowed to come to the campus and sit for the exam.
In this regard, Assistant Proctor Professor Dr. Fakrul Islam said, “We have handed over the student to the police. Action will be taken against him.”
