Chhatra Dal leader stabbed to death by miscreants, another Chhatra Dal activist in ICU
A Chhatra Dal leader named Opi Das (25) was stabbed to death by miscreants in Hathazari, Chittagong. Another Chhatra Dal activist named Md. Tamim was seriously injured in the incident.
The incident took place on Dataram Road in Chowdhury Hat, Chikandandi Union, at around 8:30 pm on Tuesday (October 14). Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Hathazari Model Police Station Md. Manjur Quader Bhuiyan confirmed the matter.
It is learned that the deceased Opi Das was the son of Mintu Das of Banik Para area, Ward No. 3 of Chikandandi Union, and was the president of Chikandandi Union Chhatra Dal in the upazila.
OC Md. Manjur Quader Bhuiyan said that Opi died on the spot and another Chhatra Dal activist Tamim was seriously injured in the stabbing. Tamim is currently undergoing treatment in the ICU of Chittagong Medical College (CMC) Hospital.
He said, “We reached the spot after receiving the news. CCTV footage has been collected from the scene. The body has been recovered and has already been sent to the morgue of Chamek Hospital for autopsy. We have arrested a person named Afsar Uddin (18) involved in the murder. The operation is ongoing.”
