Chairman opens Awami League office, BNP-Chhatra Dal takes over and locks it
Tensions and mutual occupation have arisen over the opening of the Awami League office in Kutubpur Union of Shibchar Upazila of Madaripur. A few hours after the office was opened, local BNP and Chhatra Dal leaders and activists led by Awami League leader and Kutubpur Union Parishad Chairman Atiqur Rahman Madbar locked it again. The incident took place in Kutubpur Union on Saturday (February 21) afternoon.
According to local sources, leaders and activists of Awami League and allied organizations led by Kutubpur Union Parishad Chairman and Awami League leader Atiqur Rahman Madbar suddenly opened the Kutubpur Union office in the upazila, hoisted the flag and stayed there for a while. On receiving the news, district Chhatra Dal joint convener Nazmul Hasan Milon and local BNP leaders and activists reached the spot. They went there, locked the Awami League office again and took control.
In this regard, Madaripur District Chhatra Dal Joint Convener Nazmul Hasan Milon confirmed the truth of the incident and said, “The leaders and activists of the banned Awami League were trying to create panic among the public by opening an office. Upon receiving the news, we closed the office again with the leaders and activists and the office is currently under our control. No one will be allowed to create panic among the public in any way.”
