Cash reward for weapons recovery, informant’s identity to remain confidential

Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said that it has been decided to give rewards for recovering lost weapons. He said this at a law and order meeting at the Secretariat on Monday (August 25). He said that a reward of 50,000 taka will be given for recovering pistols and shotguns, 1 lakh taka for recovering Chinese rifles, 1.5 lakh for SMGs, 5 lakh for LMGs and 500 taka for each bullet. The identities of informants will be kept secret. The Home Affairs Advisor said that all measures have been taken to stop recruitment and trade in law enforcement agencies. Regarding the road closure during the passage of the Police Commissioner in Gazipur, he said that discussions were held on this issue and the IGP has taken a decision. A show-cause notice has been issued to him in this regard. Regarding the arrest of a policeman in India, he said that he will be brought back as soon as possible through Interpol. There is an agreement between BGB and BSF for the exchange of suspects, and efforts will be made to bring him back through this as well. Regarding the elections, the Home Affairs Advisor said, the fairness of the elections depends on the people and the political parties.
