Case filed against father in Natore for allegedly abducting son

A father in Singra, Natore, has been accused of hacking his son Shariful Islam to death. The incident took place on Saturday night in Mahishmari village of Chamari union of the upazila. The deceased youth is the son of timber trader Shahid Molla of the same village. Local UP member Saban Sardar said that Shariful Islam often stole poultry and houses in the area and beat up family members to earn money for his drugs. To escape his torture, his family members kept him in drug treatment centers several times. Fed up with the torture, his wife also left him. Even when Shariful was sitting with the family and disciplined, his relatives were insulted. Finally, on Saturday evening, when Shariful did not get the drug money, he went to hack his father with a sharp razor. Then his father Shahid Molla snatched the razor and beat Shariful, killing him on the spot. Singra Police Station OC Md. Mominuzzaman said the body has been recovered and sent to the Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. A sharp knife has been recovered from the scene. His father, Shahid Molla, has been absconding since the incident. Legal action is being taken in this regard.
