    Case against 21 members of police including DIG-Commissioner in Rajshahi

    On August 5, a case was filed against Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) then Commissioner Biblab Bijay Talukder, Range DIG Anisur Rahman and 21 police officers under the Explosives Act.

    On Tuesday, Rajshahi Metropolitan Magistrate Court Judge Faisal Tarek took cognizance of the case and ordered the PBI to investigate.

    A person named Maruf Mortuza, son of Belal Hossain of Sreepur village of Paba upazila filed this case.

    The accused in the case are the then commissioner of RMP Biblab Vijay Talukder, the then DIG of the range Anisur Rahman, the then additional DIG Vijay Bashak, DC of Boalia zone Bibhuti Bhushan Banerjee, ADC of cyber crime unit of RMP Uppal Kumar Chowdhury, then OC of DB Moshiar Rahman, OC of Boalia police station Humayun Kabir. , OC Investigation Amirul Islam, Karnahar Police Station OC Kamal Kumar Deb, Katakhali Police Station OC Tauhidur Rahman, Boalia Police Station SI Kingkar, Airport Police Station SI Abdur Rahim, Rajpara Police Station SI Kajal Nandi, Boyalia Police Station SI Iftekhaier Alam, Katakhali Police Station Constable Fulbus, Boalia Police Station Constable Ashraful, SI Manik of Rajpara, Manik ASI Rajpara Thana, ASI Pranab of Rajpara Thana, ASI Taslim of Karnahar, ASI Siraj.

    Apart from this, 200 more unidentified people have been mentioned in the case.

    According to the statement of the case, on August 5, at around 12:30 noon, Maruf Murtaza left for the west of the city with about 2,000 students. When they reached Swachh Tower in Boalia police station area at around 1.30 pm, the other accused started throwing bullets and cocktails on the orders of RMP Commissioner Biplab Vijay Talukdar, the main accused in the case. Due to this, Maruf Mortaza and many others were injured. At this time, two bullets hit his leg.

    Later, the students and crowd present Maruf Murtaza along with other injured were taken to Islami Bank Medical College Hospital in Noodapara. They are treated there. When Maruf collected the names of the accused and went to the police station to file a case, the duty officer suggested the case to the court. The plaintiff in the case referred to the accused policemen as terrorists.
