Candidates who will contest in Khaleda Zia’s 3 seats

Those who submitted nomination papers as alternatives to BNP Chairperson late Begum Khaleda Zia will be the party’s candidates in the three seats she was supposed to contest, said Salahuddin Ahmed, a member of the party’s standing committee. He said this while talking to reporters at the BNP Chairperson’s political office in Gulshan, the capital, on Thursday (January 1).
Asked whether there was any scope for postponing or postponement of the elections due to the death of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, Salahuddin Ahmed said, “There is no such scope in the law. If such an incident had happened after the symbol selection and allocation, then the question of postponing it could have arisen due to legal complications, but that situation does not exist now. She is not (dead) before the elections. Legally, she no longer exists as a legal entity. Therefore, her nomination papers will not survive after the elections.” In that case, if the nomination of the alternative candidate survives, then they will be the candidates.’
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia was supposed to be the party candidate from Feni-1, Bogra-7 and Dinajpur-3 constituencies in the upcoming national elections. However, due to her illness, the party has nominated alternative candidates for these seats. The alternative candidates for Feni-1 constituency were Rafiqul Alam Majnu, for Bogra-7 constituency Morshed Alam and for Dinajpur-3 constituency Syed Jahangir Alam. After Khaleda Zia’s death, they will now contest the elections as BNP candidates in these seats.
