Cabinet committee to investigate white stone looting incident

A 5-member investigation committee of the Cabinet Division is visiting the scene of the white stone loot in Sylhet. Investigation officials are talking to local tourism businessmen on Tuesday (August 26). They are trying to find out the identities of those involved in the loot and the role of the administration. Earlier, the Cabinet Division formed a 5-member investigation committee on August 20 in the stone loot case. The committee has been asked to identify those responsible for the looting incident and submit a report within 10 working days. It will be determined whether any authority was negligent in the illegal stone extraction incident. In addition, instructions have been given to make recommendations to prevent a recurrence of the incident. The convener of the investigation committee is Zaheda Parvin, Secretary of the Coordination and Reforms Branch of the Cabinet Division. The other four members of the committee are: one with the rank of Additional Secretary of the Public Safety Department, one with the rank of Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, one with the rank of Additional Secretary of the Energy and Mineral Resources Department, and the Additional Divisional Commissioner of Sylhet, who will serve as the member secretary of the investigation committee.
