Buses and trucks searched in Natore, 4 arrested with huge drugs
The District Detective Branch (DB) has recovered 174 kg of marijuana from a truck and a passenger bus in two operations in Natore. Four people have been arrested in this operation. The operation was conducted while conducting a check post in the city’s Banbelgharia area early this Sunday (September 14). The arrested are Md. Wadud Ali (25) of Bhagrail area of Nachol upazila of Chapainawabganj, Md. Foser Ali Sohel (29) of Koylar Diyar area of Shibganj upazila, Md. Lalon (25) of Sheikhtola Kashibatipara area and Md. Saberul Islam Shaheed (35) of the same area. District Superintendent of Police Tariqul Islam said that based on specific intelligence information, a search was first conducted in a passenger bus of Grameen Travels going from Noakhali to Chapainawabganj in the morning. At that time, 14 kg of marijuana was recovered from two bags kept under the passenger seat and two people were arrested in this incident. Later, a truck carrying a plastic crate from Narayanganj to Chapainawabganj was stopped in the same area. During the search, 160 kg of marijuana was recovered from six burlap sacks kept under the crate. At this time, DB police arrested two more. The Superintendent of Police also said that the district police is following a zero tolerance policy against drugs. This drive will continue and be intensified in the future.
