Bus hits Arial Khan Bridge, 3 killed
Three people were killed when a passenger bus hit a truck on the Dhaka-Bhanga Expressway in Shibchar, Madaripur. One of them died on the spot. Two more died after being taken to the hospital. The accident occurred on the Arial Khan River bridge in Shibchar at around 9:15 am today (December 2). Fifteen more people were injured. The names of the casualties were not immediately known.
It is learned that a passenger bus of Welcome Paribahan on the Bhanga-bound lane of the Arial Khan Bridge on the expressway hit the back of a truck. A total of three people died on the spot. In addition, 15 more people were injured. Upon receiving the information, Shibchar Highway Police Station went to the spot and started a rescue operation. Eyewitness Pratap Das said, “I was traveling in another car. Suddenly, a Bhanga-bound passenger bus made a loud noise and hit a goods truck in front. The passengers in the front of the bus are likely to be injured in the accident.”
Shibchar Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Zahurul Islam confirmed the matter. He said, three people have died in the accident so far. The injured have been rescued and sent to the hospital. The identities of the deceased have not been confirmed yet. OC Zahurul Islam also said that the bus had left from Dhaka.
