Recovered foreign firearms, magazines, and bullets from Rajbari.
Police recovered three foreign firearms, seven rounds of bullets, and three empty magazines in a special operation in Rajbari. Though drug dealer Saddam Hossain, 30, managed to escape during the operation these weapons and bullets recovered after raiding his warehouse.
Sources in the police department revealed that based on a secret tip-off, SI Mahbub of Goalandghat Police Station along with his forces, including SI Jewel and SI Selim, were stationed in front of Godhuli Park of the upazila around 8:30 pm on Wednesday. Meanwhile, drug peddler Saddam Hossain went to the tar road near Godhuli Park to sell the drugs. Sensing the presence of police, Saddam immediately ran towards his motorcycle and rushed to his Dredger Pipe shop in Samrat Nagar Bazar area of Khankhanapur Union of Rajbari Sadar Upazila and succeeded in fleeing away, leaving behind his motorcycle.
Saddam is the son of Shahajan Molla of Riaz Uddin Matubbar Para, Ujanchar Union, Goalanda Upazila.
Then the police followed Saddam and searched his pipe warehouse. During the search, the police recovered three firearms, seven rounds of bullets and three empty magazines.
Confirming the matter around 10:45 pm on Wednesday, Goalandaghat Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Rakibul Islam said, “Legal proceedings are underway regarding the recovered weapons and evidence. The police station and the district DB police worked together in the operation.”
