BSEC Chairman leaves office with police, army help
With the help of the police and the army, the chairman of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC), Khandaker Rashed Maqsood, has left the building of the agency. He left his office after 3:30 pm today, Wednesday.
Earlier, from around 12 noon today, officials and employees had blocked him and the commissioners in protest against the compulsory retirement of BSEC Executive Director Saifur Rahman. Later, members of the army, police and law enforcement agencies reached there. They tried to control the situation. Later, after 3:30 pm, the police and the army helped the BSEC chairman to leave the building safely in a car.
It is learned that Khandaker Rashed Maqsood ordered the compulsory retirement of Saifur Rahman from the post of BSEC Executive Director on Tuesday. The officials and employees want an answer as to why Saifur Rahman was sent to compulsory retirement. Many of them demanded the resignation of the BSEC chairman. The officials and employees blocked the chairman and commissioners on these demands.
