Brother dies after being beaten with sticks by brothers
A brother named Anand Ghosh (45) died after being beaten with sticks by his brothers in Kotalipara, Gopalganj due to a dispute over water falling from the roof of his house. The incident took place on Sunday (September 14) night at the Ghosh house in Unshia village of the upazila. Locals said that Anand Ghosh, son of the deceased Sudhir Ghosh of Unshia village, was in a dispute with his own brothers Gaurang Ghosh (52), Kala Ghosh (50) and Jugal Ghosh (30) over water falling from the roof of their house. Last Sunday, during the rain, Anand Ghosh got into an argument with three other brothers. At one point, Gaurang Ghosh, Kala Ghosh, Jugal Ghosh, nephew Nayan Ghosh and Sourav Ghosh beat Anand with sticks and injured him. Family members and locals rescued him and took him to the Kotalipara Upazila Health Center, where the doctor declared him dead. Anand Ghosh’s wife Mita Ghosh said, “It was raining during the day. At night, my brother-in-law and sister-in-law came to the house and beat my husband to death because water was falling from the roof.” Anand Ghosh’s school-going daughter Athai Ghosh said, “My father wanted me to become a nurse. I also had a dream of becoming a nurse. That dream will not come true now. My uncle and cousins have killed my father together.” Neighbor Bachchu Howlader said that several mediation meetings were held in the presence of local dignitaries on this issue. But they did not accept any decision. In the end, Anand had to surrender his life to his brothers and nephews. When we went to the houses of Gaurang, Kala or Jugal Ghosh to inquire about this, none of them were found. Kotalipara Police Station OC Khandaker Hafizur Rahman said, the body has been sent to Gopalganj morgue for autopsy. Legal action will be taken after receiving the complaint.
