British MPs withdraw report criticizing Yunus government

A group of UK MPs has withdrawn a report criticising Bangladesh’s interim government after allegations that it was written in favour of the government of ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the Guardian reported.

The Guardian said a group of UK MPs have withdrawn a controversial report on Bangladesh after allegations that it was biased towards Sheikh Hasina’s ousted government. The report was released by the UK’s All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Commonwealth Affairs in November last year.

The controversial report criticised the current interim government in Bangladesh. However, it was later found to contain many inaccurate information. There were even allegations of significant errors in the report.

Officials say the report is no longer being distributed after a Labour MP complained about it in the House of Commons and is now “under review”.

A spokesperson said, “The analysis report remains an internal document under review and has been shared with the Foreign Office as part of the process. It is not intended for wider dissemination and will not be distributed or followed up on.”

The report on Bangladesh was released to the media in November, three months after Hasina was ousted.

The controversial report made several criticisms of Nobel Peace Prize laureate Muhammad Yunus, who formed an interim government after Hasina’s fall. Andrew Rosindale, the Conservative chair of the APPG, wrote in a press release: “Bangladesh should have a prosperous future, one where opportunities are open to all, not just supporters of the incumbent. Unless this trend changes immediately, the international community’s expectations of the new government risk being dashed.”

The report also said that Professor Dr. The government of Muhammad Yunus was also accused of using the law as a “political weapon” and patronizing “hardline Islamists.”

The controversial report, which was based on evidence from the Rights and Risk Analysis Group, a New Delhi-based think tank, was also withdrawn by British MPs. The report, which was withdrawn by British MPs, added: “We have found evidence that former ministers, Awami League leaders, MPs, former judges, scholars, lawyers and journalists are being accused of murder in such a high number that their credibility is questioned.”

Experts have criticised the report, calling it full of false information and biased against the ousted Sheikh Hasina government. Labour MP Rupa Haque, who recently returned from Bangladesh, strongly criticised the report in the House of Commons this week, calling it a “scheming act” against the interim government of Bangladesh.
