Body of Russian national from Rooppur project recovered from house
Police have recovered the body of a Russian national working at the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant project in Ishwardi, Pabna. The body was recovered from a rented house in Jigatola area of Ishwardi on Saturday (September 20) night. The deceased has been identified as Karpov Krill (26). He was working as an electrician at ESKM Company, the contractor of the Rooppur power project.
Afzal Hossain, in-charge of Ishwardi Ambagan police outpost, confirmed the matter and said, “Karpov Krill lived alone in a flat on the fifth floor of the house of a doctor in Jigatola area, Anwar Hossain. At night, family members tried repeatedly to contact him on his mobile phone from Russia but failed. Later, they informed the company’s security officer.”
He added, “Later, the security officer, along with the interpreter Anwarul Islam and another Russian citizen living in the adjacent flat, broke the door of the flat and entered. At that time, Krill was seen lying on the bed. Later, Russian doctor Mikhail came and declared him dead.”
Ishwardi Circle Additional Superintendent of Police Pranab Kumar Sarkar said, “Initially, it is believed that the Russian citizen died due to a brain stroke. He was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Dhaka a few days ago.” He added, “The body has been recovered and sent to the Pabna General Hospital morgue for an autopsy. The exact cause of death will be known after receiving the autopsy report.”
