Boat carrying 90 migrants including Bangladeshis sinks at Malaysia-Thailand sea border

A boat carrying illegal migrants en route from Myanmar to Malaysia has sunk in Malaysian and Thai waters. The boat was carrying a total of 90 passengers, including Bangladeshis, Myanmar nationals and Rohingya refugees.
Today, Sunday (November 9), Malaysian media outlet MalayMail reported, citing the country’s authorities, that six people have been rescued alive so far. In addition, the body of a Myanmar woman was found in the sea.
Kedah state police chief Datuk Adzil Abu Shah said that the group of migrants consisted of about 300 people. First, everyone was taken to a large ship, then the smugglers divided them into three smaller boats – each boat had about 90 people.
He added that one boat had sunk, but the whereabouts of the other two boats were still unknown. Of the six rescued, three were Myanmar nationals, two were Rohingya and one was Bangladeshi. Police officer Adjil added that the migrants left about a month ago and each paid about 3.5 lakh baht. He added that a rescue operation would be launched to find the missing and identify the remaining two boats.
