BNP worker dies after hearing news of defeat

A BNP worker named Riaz Uddin (67) died after hearing the news of the defeat of BNP-nominated paddy sheaf candidate Md. Shamsujoha Khan in Naogaon-2 (Patnitala-Dhamirhat) constituency. He is the son of Rais Uddin of Badanpur village of Krishnapur union in Patnitala upazila. Former upazila chairman and former general secretary of Patnitala upazila of Naogaon Md. Abdul Hamid confirmed the matter on Saturday (February 14) morning.
He said, ‘When the campaign for the 13th National Parliament election started, Riaz Uddin went door to door day and night to make BNP and the paddy sheaf symbol win. Riaz Uddin, a party devotee, could not accept the news of the defeat of paddy sheaf in Naogaon-2 constituency.’ Abdul Hamid said, ‘Yesterday, Friday morning, he fell ill after suffering a heart attack after hearing the news of the defeat. He was immediately admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for treatment. He died while undergoing treatment there in the evening of the same day.’
It is worth noting that there are 124 polling stations in Naogaon-2 (Patnitala-Dhamirhat) constituency. According to the results of all the stations, Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Engineer Enamul Haque has been elected as a member of parliament unofficially with 1 lakh 41 thousand 526 votes under the scale symbol. In his nearest Padan Sheesh constituency, BNP nominated candidate and former member of parliament Md. Shamsuzzoha Khan has received 1 lakh 34 thousand 533 votes.
