BNP satisfied with chief advisor’s instructions on election preparations
The chief advisor to the interim government, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, has ordered to complete all work related to the national parliament elections by December this year. BNP has expressed satisfaction with the chief advisor’s steps. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said this at a discussion meeting of a section of the Federal Union of Journalists at the National Press Club on Thursday (July 10). The BNP Secretary General said that people want to see an elected parliament quickly. BNP is hopeful that the Election Commission will organize the elections quickly after completing all preparations. He also said that the final opinion on the July declaration has been sent to the government. Mirza Fakhrul also said that Ziaur Rahman established a multi-party democracy from a single-party one. He gave freedom to the press. Later, Khaleda Zia incorporated the provisions of the caretaker government. But now some are saying that BNP is obstructing reforms. Regarding reforms, he said that BNP agrees with most of the reform proposals. But we do not agree on some fundamental issues. However, I am of the opinion that the next Parliament will decide on those issues.
