He is said to be a follower of Upazila Swechchhasebak League General Secretary Atiqur Rahman Piyas. He has been in hiding since August 5. Ujjal returned home on Wednesday to see his pregnant wife at a doctor. When the news spread, BNP leaders and activists attacked him. Atiqur Rahman posted the video on his Facebook on Friday.

In the 2-minute and 55-second video, it is seen that a group of 8-10 people, including Jalal Bhuiyan of the Sramik Dal, Jahangir Alam of the Jubo Dal, and Shuvo, followers of Banpara Municipality BNP joint convener ABM Iqbal Hossain Raju, came to Ujjal’s house with sticks and started beating him severely. When Ujjal’s elderly parents came forward to rescue him, they were pushed and thrown away.

When they came forward again, they were also beaten up. When the pregnant wife came forward to save her husband Ujjal, she was also pushed and thrown away. Finally, when the BNP leaders informed the police, the police rescued Ujjal and admitted him to the Baraigram Upazila Hospital. From there, he was arrested under Section 151 of the Criminal Code and sent to the Baraigram Amli Court in Natore on Thursday morning. The court granted his bail on the same day.
