BNP leader shot dead in Jessore

A BNP leader named Alamgir Hossain (55) was shot dead by miscreants in the Shankarpur area of ​​Jessore town. The murder took place in front of the office of the Nayan councilor in the Shankarpur area at around 6:50 pm tomorrow, Saturday (January 3). The deceased Alamgir Hossain was the joint general secretary of the BNP of Ward No. 7 of Jessore Municipality. He is the son of the deceased Intaj Chowdhury of that area.
According to local residents and police sources, Alamgir Hossain was staying in the Shankarpur area yesterday evening. When he reached the Nayan councilor’s office at around 6:45 pm, a group of unknown terrorists opened fire on him. The bullet pierced the left side of his head. He fell to the ground on the spot in a bloody state.
Hearing the sound of the gunshots, locals quickly rushed to the spot and rescued him and took him to the emergency department of Jessore General Hospital. The doctor on duty there declared him dead after examining him. Hospital sources said that he died before reaching the hospital due to severe head injuries and excessive bleeding. Kotwali Police Station OC Faruk Ahmed said that after receiving the information, Jessore Kotwali Police Station visited the scene. However, it was not immediately confirmed who committed the murder and for what purpose. After the incident, extreme tension and panic spread in the area. Additional police have been deployed in the area to control the situation. Police said that an investigation is underway to identify and arrest those involved in the murder.
