BNP-Jamaat clash over Facebook status in Shariatpur, 12 injured
At least 12 people were injured in a series of clashes between BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami leaders and activists in Shariatpur over Facebook status. The incident took place in the Bhojeshwar area of Naria upazila on Tuesday (January 27) afternoon.
According to local sources, a verbal clash broke out between BNP and Jamaat leaders and activists in the Bhojeshwar area yesterday afternoon over posts in favor and against the referendum on Facebook. At one point, both sides clashed with sticks. At least 12 people were injured in the incident. Later, after receiving information, the police and the army quickly reached the spot and brought the situation under control.
The injured in the incident were rescued and immediately admitted to a local hospital. It is said that additional police have been deployed in the area to avoid any kind of unpleasant situation.
