BNP is planning a long march towards Agartala.
BNP has decided to hold a long march to protest against Indian aggression. The long march will be held from Dhaka to Agartala. The party’s three affiliate organizations, Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal, Swechchhasebak Dal and Chhatra Dal, will jointly hold this program.
This decision was made in a virtual meeting between BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman and top leaders of the three organizations last Thursday. However, the date of the long march has not been finalized yet.
It is learned that a meeting of the three organizations will be held on Saturday, where this matter will be finalized. The long march may take place by December 15. A large number of leaders and activists will participate in this program. A top leader of Jubo Dal said that it has been decided in the initial discussions to start the long march from the central office in Nayapaltan, Dhaka.
They plan to start it with a very large convoy. Leaders and activists from their respective districts will participate in the convoy. There may be two rallies at the beginning and end of the long march. These will be discussed in the meeting today, Saturday. Apart from this, several teams may also be formed to make the program successful in an orderly manner. They will complete preparations with the concerned districts. Everything is expected to be finalized in today’s meeting.
The leaders said that initially a memorandum was supposed to be submitted to the Indian High Commission in Dhaka. But that plan has been changed. Now they want to do a long march towards Agartala in India and across the border in Bangladesh. The initial decision has been made to do it from Dhaka to Akhaura.
According to BNP leaders, in the changed situation after the fall of the fascist Sheikh Hasina government, a kind of tension arose in the relationship between India and Bangladesh over the arrest and bail issue of Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, spokesperson of the Bangladesh Sammilit Sanatani Jagran Jote.
Some quarters and media in India are constantly spreading lies and propaganda against Bangladesh. After several recent incidents including the Chinmoy issue, the Assistant High Commission of Bangladesh in Agartala, India, was attacked, vandalized and the national flag was insulted.
Apart from this, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has sought the deployment of a UN peacekeeping force in Bangladesh. She also sought the personal intervention of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure the security of minorities in Bangladesh. Attending the winter session of the assembly last Monday, Mamata also urged the central government to talk to the UN. BNP is unhappy with India’s anti-Bangladesh stance.
