BNP in turmoil over organizational conflict in Rajshahi-1 constituency, Jamaat ahead

The internal conflict within BNP over the nomination for Rajshahi-1 (Godagari-Tanoor) constituency has reached its peak. Two people were killed in clashes between supporters of BNP Major General (retd) Sharif Uddin and BNP industrialist Sultanul Islam Tarek, and there have been multiple clashes and lawsuits. There has been a division in the party due to about eight nomination candidates.
After the death of former minister Barrister Aminul Haque, BNP’s influence in this constituency has decreased. This time, his brother Sharif Uddin and some central leaders are in the race for the ticket. Sharif Uddin claimed, “Everyone is a worker of the paddy field, we will unite if the candidate is announced.” Sultanul Islam Tarek said, “The conflict is temporary, BNP will unite in the end.”
On the other hand, Jamaat has already built a strong organizational structure. The party’s candidate, Professor Mujibur Rahman, has been active in the area for a long time. Locals believe that Jamaat is advancing in this seat by taking advantage of the division in BNP.
