BNP calls on government to take tough role in curbing terrorism
BNP has called on the government to take a tough role in curbing terrorism in the country. This was made by party standing committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury after a meeting between the BNP Secretary General and the European Union (EU) Ambassador at the party chairperson’s Gulshan office on Wednesday (November 12) morning.
Regarding the Awami League’s lockdown program, he said, “Law and order is a matter of concern. The forces are expected to take a tough stance. And since the Awami League is not in the race for the elections, they do not have a leader. There is no point in discussing their program. The law and order forces must take a tougher stance.”
He also said, “It is the responsibility of the law and order forces to find out who is carrying out terrorist activities in the country. The government must take a tough role in this regard. Because anyone except the Awami League can carry out terrorist activities.”
Amir Khasru said, “The people of the country are aware. There is no opportunity to disrupt the elections by carrying out terrorist activities.” He also said that the European Union has no concerns about the elections. “They want a fair and impartial election in Bangladesh. Because they are involved in this election,” he said.
“In the context of the 13th National Parliament election, how the BNP is moving forward, what the nomination process has been and how the country is moving towards the election, these issues have been discussed with the EU ambassador. In addition to supporting the Election Commission, they will send observers and also talk to civil society. They mainly discussed the election.”
