BJP Lost In Jammu and Kashmir Elections
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lost the first assembly election in Jammu and Kashmir.
In the election, National Conference (NC) and Indian National Congress (INC) won 49 seats out of total 90 seats. BJP got 29 seats. Another time in Jammu and Kashmir, the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) won only three seats. The result was announced after the counting of votes on Tuesday.
Elections were held for 90 seats in the Assembly of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The NC-INC alliance claimed victory in 49 seats. According to the new rules, Jammu and Kashmir Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha will elect representatives from five seats.
The BJP, which has never ruled Jammu and Kashmir, won 29 seats. They have more victories in Jammu. Here they won four more seats than in the 2014 elections, but less than they expected.
Meanwhile, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti’s party, the PDP, which formed the government after the 2014 elections in alliance with the BJP, was known as the ‘kingmaker’ until now. According to Boothferat polls, they could get 4 to 12 seats and support the NC-IC to form the government. They won only three seats, which is 25 less than in the last election. And in the seats that NC-INC got, they do not need Mehbooba Mufti’s support to form the government.
Aam Aadmi Party (UP), which participated for the first time, got one seat. Sajjad Lone of People’s Conference got one seat. The remaining seven seats were won by independent candidates.
Meanwhile, Haryana assembly election results have also been declared today. BJP won 48 out of 90 seats in this state. INC got 37 seats. Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) won two seats. Others got the remaining three seats.
