BJP leader calls for boycott Bangladeshi artists in India.
Shameek Bhattacharya a West Bengal BJP leader and a member of the country’s Rajya Sabha MP has called to boycott Bangladeshi artists in India and ban their entry into the country. He made the comments before the media on Sunday, Hindustan Times reported.
Shameek Bhattacharya said, “At this moment, we have to boycott artists from West Bengal (Bangladesh). We have to prevent Bangladeshi artists from coming to this country (India). We have to protest. Why aren’t Prosenjit Chakraborty and Gautam Ghosh protesting? This is not politics, but we all have to protest the events in Bangladesh.”
However, the ruling Trinamool Congress party in West Bengal has taken a different view on the comments by the BJP leader. The party’s spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said, “Not everyone in Bangladesh is our enemy. Some evil people are trying to create trouble. In this situation, if an Indian artist wants to sing to the people of Bangladesh or our Bengali artist wants to sing to the people of Bangladesh and the audience is also ready to listen to the songs, then why should we stop them? Why should we relate culture with these evil incidents?
