Biden used state power to pardon his son!
Outgoing US President Joe Biden has officially pardoned his convicted son Hunter Biden before his term as president ends. He announced the pardon in a statement issued by the White House on Sunday. Although Biden had previously pledged not to use the presidential power to pardon his son.
This information was reported by several international media outlets including the BBC and Al Jazeera on Monday.
Joe Biden said, “Today I signed the authorization of a state pardon for my son Hunter. From the day I took office, I said that I would not interfere in the decision-making of the Justice Department and I have kept my word. However, I have seen that my son has been unfairly prosecuted simply because of his family name.”
He said, “If you examine the facts of Hunter’s case, anyone can understand that he was targeted simply because he is my son. And this is wrong.”
The US president, who recently lost the election, said that attempts have been made to break Hunter. Even in the face of continuous attacks and trials, he has remained silent for more than five years.
Joe Biden said, “They also wanted to weaken me by attacking Hunter. So what happened is enough.”
The president can pardon any criminal if he wants. Although Biden previously said that he would not pardon his son if he is found guilty in court.
Hunter Biden pleaded guilty to tax evasion in early September. And Hunter was convicted of a firearms case in June. His sentence was scheduled to be announced soon. But before that, Joe Biden officially pardoned his son unconditionally.
