BGB-BSF Director General level meeting begins in Dhaka

The formal meeting of the 56th BGB-BSF Director General Level Border Conference has begun in Dhaka. The meeting began in the morning at the conference room of the BGB headquarters in Peelkhana, capital Dhaka. A 21-member Bangladesh delegation led by BGB Director General Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui participated in the conference. On the other hand, an 11-member Indian delegation led by BSF Director General Shri Daljit Singh Chowdhury, IPS participated in the conference. The Directors General of the Border Guard Forces of both the countries are leading their respective delegations. Representatives of various border-related organizations are also participating in the conference. The conference will discuss border killings, prevention of push-ins and infiltration, and prevention of smuggling of drugs, arms and ammunition and other prohibited goods from India. In addition, emphasis will be given to implementing developmental activities and preventing unauthorized infrastructure construction within 150 yards of the international border, preserving the banks of border rivers, obtaining a fair share of the water of border rivers, and joint initiatives to implement an integrated border management plan. Initiatives will also be taken to defuse the tension that has arisen on the border due to anti-Bangladesh propaganda in the Indian media. In addition, bilateral issues and various aspects related to the border interests of the two countries will also be discussed. A BGB-BSF Director General-level conference was held in Delhi last February. This conference is being held in Dhaka in continuation of that.
