BGB arrests BSF member
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has arrested a member of the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) named Ved Prakash on charges of illegal infiltration into Dahagram in Patgram upazila of Lalmonirhat. He was arrested from Angopta Dangarpara area of Dahagram union of the upazila early today (December 21).
BGB and locals said that a joint cattle crossing party between India and Bangladesh had gathered at pillar number 1/7 of the Dahagram Angopta Dangarpara border. Seeing them, members of the Arjunbari camp of the BSF 147 battalion chased them. At that time, due to dense fog, BSF member Ved Prakash lost his way and entered a house 100 yards inside Bangladesh. On receiving the information, members of the BGB Angopta camp arrested him and took his arms and ammunition into their custody.
The BSF has called for a flag meeting at the battalion level over the incident, the BSF 51 Battalion’s Angorpota BOP camp said in a press release. “As Dahagram is surrounded by India, the BSF always carries out provocative activities. Earlier, on the pretext of the new agreement of 2014, big bottles of liquor were hung provocatively on the barbed wire fence in No Man’s Land.” Subedar Ayub Ali and Sector Commander Lt. Col. Salim Al Deen of BGB 51 Battalion’s Angorpota camp said, “Contact is on with senior BSF officials, details will be informed to you later.”
