Clashes between Chhatra League and students
A clash broke out between Chhatra League-supported students and general students over dominance at the Munshiganj Polytechnic Institute in Mirkadim Municipality of Sadar Upazila of Munshiganj. At least 10 people were injured.
The clash took place around 3 pm on January 5.
The injured Chhatra League-supported students are Mehedi (19), father Abdur Rouf Gazi, of Siddhirganj area of Narayanganj, Tanmoy (22), father Nurul Haque, of Bahadurkanda village of Netrokona, Durjoy (21), father Shafiqul Haque, of Langaljora village of Tangail, Rakibul (22), father Jahangir Alam, of Kazipur area of Sirajganj.
Meanwhile, 15 general students were injured. Those who have been identified are Kamruzzaman Robin (22), father-Kamal Hossain, Bhuiyan and Alamin Islam Rouf of Manikganj, Ripon (21), father-Abdul Aziz of Debiganj in Panchagarh, Muhith (21) of Kaliakair village in Gazipur, father-Md. Abul Bashar.
Later, locals and general students of the said polytechnic institute rescued the injured and brought them to Munshiganj General Hospital. Among them, the seriously injured Alamin Islam Rouf (20), Tanmoy (22), Ripon (21), were referred to Dhaka Medical College by the doctor on duty for better treatment.
In addition, some other injured students are admitted to this hospital. Meanwhile, it is known that others have gone home after receiving primary treatment.
