Moulvibazar: One person was beaten to death on suspicion of robbery in Kamalganj upazila. The incident took place late last Saturday night at Nurjahan Tea Garden in Madhabpur Union of the upazila. The deceased’s name is Alal Mia. He is a resident of Moglabazar area of Sylhet. Three others were injured in the incident.
Madhabpur Union Parishad member Md. Saleh Ahmed said that a group of about 10 to 15 robbers came to rob his house on Saturday night. During the preparations, the night watchmen of the tea garden in their area rang the ‘crazy bell’. At that time, everyone in the neighborhood came and caught one robber and beat him up. He died. However, while the rest of the robbers were fleeing, arrows were fired. The arrows wounded two other robbers. A village policeman was injured by the sharp blade of the robbers while fleeing.
Kamalganj Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Md. Shamim Akonji said that one person died in the beating while coming to rob. Two others were arrested and taken to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital for treatment. The body of the deceased has been sent to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital morgue. Preparations for a case are underway in this incident.
Netrokona: A young man was killed in an attack due to a family dispute in Kendua upazila. The incident took place in the Kandapara area of the upazila last Saturday night. The deceased youth’s name is Harun Mia. He is the son of Raish Uddin of Kandapara village. Relatives and locals allege that Harun Mia was killed in an attack by his uncle and cousins. The accused uncle’s name is Md. Abdul Haque Mia. His house is also in the same village.
It has not been possible to talk to any of the accused Md. Abdul Haque Mia and his sons since the incident as they are absconding. Kendua Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Mizanur Rahman said that police have been deployed in the area. Preparations for the case are underway at the police station.
Bogra: A young man was stabbed to death while going to watch a concert at the Government Azizul Haque College campus. The incident took place behind the 10-storey building of the college’s new campus in Kamargari on Saturday night. The deceased’s name is Mehedi Hasan. He is the son of Rafiqul Islam of Malgram Chakarpara area of Bogra city. He is a mechanic. In this incident, a protest and protest march program was held on the campus yesterday under the banner of the conscious student society to protest against the ‘subculture’ in the college in the name of the concert.
According to college and police sources, a day-long reunion program was organized on the campus on Saturday at the initiative of the Alumni Association of the college’s philosophy department. In the evening, there was a concert by the band ‘Ashes’. In addition to college students, outsiders, teenagers and young men flocked to the campus to watch the concert. Two youths had an argument with young Mehedi Hasan, who had come to watch the concert. At one stage, Mehedi was taken to the back of the 10-story building of the campus and stabbed. He was taken to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in Bogra. Later, doctors declared him dead around 9 pm.
Saturia (Manikganj): Helal Uddin, who was injured in an attack by an opponent due to a land dispute in Saturia upazila, has died while undergoing treatment. He died at Enam Medical College Hospital in Savar on Saturday (November 23) night. Helal Uddin is the son of the late Abdul Latif of Bagbari Shimulia area of Baliati union of the upazila. Helal had a dispute with his neighbor Chandu over the provision of land and water. Later, on November 5, at one point during an argument, Chandu and his son Zakir stabbed Helal and his son Khokon. Saturia Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Shahinul Islam confirmed the incident and said that necessary legal action is being taken in this incident.
