Bank transactions to continue till 2:30 pm during Ramadan

On the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, all banks and capital markets in the country will operate according to new timings from today, Thursday (February 19). According to the new timings, transactions in banks can be done from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm. Bangladesh Bank has issued a directive in this regard.
According to the new instructions, banks will be open from 9:30 am to 4 pm during the month of Ramadan. During this time, customers can transact until 2:30 pm and the remaining time has been kept for organizing official work. During normal times, banks are open from 10 am to 6 pm and transactions continue till 4 pm.
Along with banks, the trading schedule of the capital market has also been rescheduled. During the month of Ramadan, trading in the stock market will start from 10 am and will continue till 1:50 pm. During normal times, this transaction will continue till 2:30 pm. The Bangladesh Bank circular also states that there will be a break from 1:15 pm to 1:30 pm for Zuhr prayers during the month of Ramadan. However, during this break, the transaction process will have to be continued through internal coordination of the bank, so that customer service is not disrupted.
The office hours of the central bank have also been fixed from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm during the month of Ramadan. Inter-bank transaction settlement and official work will be conducted according to this new schedule. The Bangladesh Bank directive also states that after the end of the holy month of Ramadan, banks, financial institutions and the capital market will return to their previous normal schedule.
