Bangladeshi youth killed in Indian truck hit

A Bangladeshi youth named Suleman Mia (21) was killed in a road accident in Sunamganj after being hit by an Indian coal-laden truck. The accident occurred at around 10:30 am today, Monday (December 22) at Charagaon Land Customs Station in Tahirpur. The deceased Suleman is the son of Mona Mia of Charagaon Border village in Uor Sreepur Union of the upazila.
Eyewitnesses said that at Charagaon Land Customs Station on Customs Road under the control of Charagaon BOP of the 28th Border Guard Battalion Bangladesh (BGB) in Sunamganj, a 12,000 kg coal-laden truck belonging to an Indian exporter named Grill Wiz Marwin lost control and crushed pedestrian Suleman. At that time, various parts of his body collapsed on the road and Suleman fell to his death.
When the Indian truck driver and helper mysteriously fled to India, evading the notice of the BGB, customs and importing companies, the truck was seized by Janata Shaheen Chowdhury’s importing company, Chowdhury in Trade, at a depot.
After that, the police station seized the truck along with the Indian coal. Sunamganj District Police Additional Superintendent of Police Rakibul Hasan Russell confirmed this information and told us that the police station will recover the body of the deceased and send it to the District Sadar Hospital morgue and for now, the OC has been instructed to seize the truck along with the coal and file a regular case with the police station.
