Bangladeshi killed in BSF firing at Lalmonirhat border
A Bangladeshi was killed in firing by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at the Dhabolguri border in Patgram upazila of Lalmonirhat. Two others were injured in the incident. The incident took place near the 874/5 S main pillar of the Dhabolguri border in the upazila on Tuesday (April 7) night.
The deceased Ali Hossain (49) is the son of the deceased Abdul Gafur of Purba Paniyatari village in Dhabolguri area of Patgram upazila. The identities of the injured are not yet known.
BGB and locals said that when a group of seven to eight people including Ali Hossain tried to enter Indian territory last night, members of the Satgram camp of the 156th BSF battalion on patrol fired two rounds at them. Ali Hossain was killed on the spot. Later, his body was taken to a hospital in India.
61 BGB Commander Lieutenant Colonel Syed Fazle Munim said that efforts are underway to organize a site meeting at the battalion and sector commander levels regarding the body of the deceased.
