Bangladesh ready to hold elections in February: Chief Advisor

Bangladesh is ready for national elections in mid-February, said the chief advisor to the interim government, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus. Dr. Muhammad Yunus said this in a joint briefing after a meeting with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on Tuesday (August 12) morning. The chief advisor said that Bangladesh is ready for national elections in mid-February 2026. At this time, calling for Malaysian investment in Bangladesh, Dr. Muhammad Yunus said that there is immense potential here. In addition, regarding the Rohingya crisis, the chief advisor said that the Rohingya are a big crisis for us. We seek the help of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to resolve this crisis. Earlier, the chief advisor met with the Malaysian Prime Minister at 10 am local time. Five memorandums of understanding were signed between Bangladesh and Malaysia in the meeting. The MoU was signed on the first day of the Chief Advisor’s three-day visit to Malaysia.
