Bangladesh-Pakistan Foreign Ministers’ Meeting: 6 agreements and understandings likely to be signed

A bilateral meeting at the Foreign Minister-level between Bangladesh and Pakistan is underway. The meeting began at the Sonargaon Hotel in the capital on Sunday (August 24) morning. Six agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) are expected to be signed between the two countries in this meeting. Foreign Affairs Advisor Towhid Hossain and Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar are expected to discuss various bilateral issues including trade, investment, agriculture, and facilitating the movement of people between the two countries. Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar arrived in Dhaka on a two-day visit on Saturday afternoon. He was welcomed at the airport by Foreign Ministry Secretary Nazrul Islam. Later in the afternoon, Ishaq Dar held a meeting with leaders of BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami and Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP). Ishaad Dar is scheduled to visit BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan residence this evening.
