Awami League leader dies in jail
Awami League’s Enayetpur police station president Ahmed Mustafa Khan Bachchu (80) has died in the district jail. He was taken to Sirajganj General Hospital at around 10 am today (October 28) and doctors declared him dead. Ahmed Mustafa Khan Bachchu is a resident of Enayetpur Darbar Sharif area of Chauhali upazila.
Confirming the matter, Sirajganj District Jail Superintendent SM Kamruzzaman said, “Ahmed Mustafa Khan Bachchu had been in jail since April 24. He suddenly fell ill at around 9:50 am today and was taken to the hospital at 10:05 am.” The doctor declared him dead there.
Kamruzzaman also said, “Ahmed Mustafa Khan Bachchu was an accused in four murder cases, including the attack on Enayetpur police station and the police murder case during the July movement.” He said that the process of handing over the body of the deceased to the family after the autopsy is underway.
