    Australia beat India in Sydney to lift the trophy after 10 years.

    Australia defeated India by 6 wickets in a tense Sydney Test. The Aussies with this win, created a 3-1 lead in the five-match series and series. And they have lifted the Border-Gavaskar Trophy between the two teams after 10 long years.

    The Australian team last won a 4-match series 2-0 at home in the 2014-15 season. After that, they lost 4 consecutive series. Whereas in 2018 and 2020, they lost two series consecutively at home as well.

    Australia had lost the opening Test in Perth, but managed to bounce back with a victory in the second Test in Adelaide. Then, India fought back with a draw in Brisbane. However, the hosts did not give the visitors any further chances in Melbourne and Sydney.

    India was for a duck-walk on the second day of the match in Sydney when they left for the field at 6 wickets for 141 runs in the second innings and today bowled out for 157 runs with just 9 runs addition to their yesterday scores. Australian pacer Scott Boland took six wickets for 45 runs.

    Then, Australia, who came out to bat after setting a target of 162 runs started with a storm. The two openers Sam Constas and Usman Khawaja scored 39 runs in just 3.5 overs. Constas was dismissed for 22 runs off 17 balls by Prasidh Krishna. Khawaja was bowled by Mohammad Siraj for 41 off 45 balls.

    However, Krishna also gave the visitors some hope by quickly dismissing Steven Smith off Marnus Labuschagne. But Australia secured victory with the bat of Travis Head and Beau Webster. Head remained unbeaten on 34 off 38 balls and the debutant Webster remained unbeaten on 39 off 34 balls. Jasprit Bumrah, who was injured in Australia’s first innings, could not return to the field.

    Earlier, India had managed 185 in the first innings while Australia bundled out for 181 in their reply.

    Boland finished Man of the Match with his tally of 10 wickets in two innings, but Bumrah became the Man of the Series, for 32 scalps across five Tests.
