Attempted murder of mother of two in Kaliganj by slitting her throat, complaint against ex-husband The incident took place at around 2 pm on Tuesday (December 16) in Nadipara area of the city. Police and locals said that Kulsum divorced Hanif Ali two weeks ago due to drug addiction. He worked in a house next door. She used to run the family with his income. When he did not get drug money, her ex-husband often beat Kulsum. Finding no other way, Kulsum divorced Hanif Ali.
They also said that Kulsum lived in a rented house in Nadipara area of Arpara with her two daughters. Yesterday afternoon, Hanif came there and tried to slit her throat with a sharp razor. Later, locals came and rescued her and took her to Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex. Kaliganj Police Station OC Jelal Hossain confirmed the truth of the incident and said that Hanif, a drug addict, was arrested from the scene after receiving information. Legal action will be taken against him.
