Attempt to enter India illegally, 5 arrested
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has arrested 5 men and women while illegally entering India from Kaiba border in Sharsha upazila of Jessore. They were sent to jail through a court today (September 10) afternoon.
Earlier, they were arrested from 22R pillar of 17/7 S of the border last night. Later, they were handed over to Sharsha police station after completing the legal process.
The arrested are, Md. Rafiqul Islam (32), son of Ashadul Islam of Chaugacha village in Jessore, Shahinur Akhter (28), wife of Shafiqul Islam of Ramdia village in Bagerhat, Md. Kamrul Hasan (35), son of Abdul Khalek of Mirkadim village in Munshiganj, Mosha. Taslima Khatun (25), wife of Rashedul Islam of Dohar village in Dhaka and Mosha. wife of Mizanur Rahman of Kaliganj village in Satkhira. Sabina Khatun (29).
BGB sources said that based on secret information, a special patrol team of BGB-21 Battalion conducted a raid in the border area. During this, 2 men and 3 women were arrested while trying to illegally enter India from Bangladesh.
BGB-21 Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Tanvir Rahman said that attempting to cross the border illegally is a punishable offense. The detainees have been handed over to Sharsha Police Station for legal action.
Sharsha Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Alamgir Hossain said that 5 people detained by BGB were brought to the police station. After the legal process, they were sent to jail through the court this afternoon.
