Attack on RAB to spoil election environment: Mia Golam Parwar
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General and former MP Mia Golam Parwar has said that terrorists attacked RAB to spoil the election environment and create panic among the public ahead of the upcoming national elections. He condemned the incident and called for strict measures and a fair investigation to suppress the terrorists.
He issued a statement today, Tuesday (January 20).
In the statement, Mia Golam Parwar said, “The countrymen are concerned about the deterioration of the law and order situation and the role of the administration in controlling the activities of terrorists in the incident in which a RAB officer was killed and three other RAB members were injured in a shooting by terrorists in Sitakunda, Chittagong. In this situation, I urge the law and order forces to take strict action to eliminate the terrorists.”
He said, “A drive was conducted to arrest ‘armed terrorists’ in the Salimpur area of the Sitakunda jungle. At that time, the miscreants ambushed the RAB members.” Golam Parwar wished eternal peace to the deceased officer DAD Md. Motaleb and expressed his condolences to the family members of the deceased. He wished the injured a speedy recovery.
He also said, it has become clear from this incident that the terrorists are trying to organize ahead of the upcoming 13th National Parliament elections and have attacked RAB members to destroy the atmosphere of a fair election and create panic in the public mind. Therefore, the administration should recover illegal weapons before the elections under the zero tolerance policy and conduct a proper investigation into this incident, arrest the identified terrorists and bring those involved in the murder to justice. At the same time, I urge the concerned authorities to take necessary measures to prevent the recurrence of such terrorist activities in the future.
